Dorchester Middle School

On Friday, Key Stage Two came together for another cracking singing assembly. We were treated to fantastic performances from two of our Year Five children as well as celebrating the ROARSome children who received certificates this week. What a wonderful way to end such an extraordinary week!

As part of the Year 4 to 5 transition process, Mrs Ray has been visiting our feeder first schools and bringing along some very special guests. Can you guess where we've been so far? It has been an absolute joy to see the fabulous children who will be joining us at DMS in September. Transfer Day (7th July) will be here before we know it!

We are getting very excited about the last Disco of the school year! We are especially looking forward to welcoming our new recruits back to the school after Transfer Day on the 7th July!

Advance notice! After the huge success of the last cake sale, the Student council will be running another Cake Bake sale! This one is likely to be even bigger! If you are a baker and you would like to help raise money for their chosen cause 'Mission Jenson', we would love your help in providing some yummy cakes! With your help, we can make lots of money for this very special charity and really make a difference! If you're not a baker, please do come and support and bring lots of change! ( cash only!) Well done to our fantastic Anti bullying ambassadors today from years 5 and 6, who took the assembly. The ABAs reminded all pupils about the different types of bullying; online, physical and verbal. They also reminded all pupils about their role as an Anti bullying Ambassador and how they will always be up standers for those who need support. Mr Kelsall was very proud of their presentation!

Huge congratulations to the newly appointed Heads of House announced by Mrs King this morning during a special assembly on the playground this morning. The Year Seven children had to apply for these posts by completing an application form. Following this, teachers then nominated the children who they felt should go forward to be interviewed. Miss Clements and Mrs King conducted these interviews and chose the Head and Deputy of House from this process. We are extremely lucky to have had so many possible candidates for these important roles. Well done one and all!

Our very own Emily in Year 5 won 2 awards on Friday last week, at her Basketball Presentation evening. One of the awards was for being on the under 10's Weymouth Bandits Basketball team and the other was for Offensive Player of the year for the team!! We are beyond proud of her!!

If you were lucky enough to come to our fabulous Summer Fete yesterday, have you recovered yet? Have the brave teachers who were soaked by over zealous punters dried out yet? What an amazing afternoon! We can't begin to thank everyone who came out and supported our brilliant school (including the sun that decided to make an appearance) and helped to make the Fete such a success. A special mention must go to our AMAZING PTFA who, after many months of planning, delivered another terrific event. The hours they put in is nothing short of incredible. Hopefully the following pictures are able to reflect what a brilliant event this was.
