We are so pleased to share that DMS will be helping out the Storehouse Church again this year and bringing in donations for their Harvest food collection parcels. Last year as a school we donated almost one tonne of food towards their foodbank - it was an incredible achievement! This year we will try to do the same again! Please see the list below, check what tutor group your child is in, and we ask if you would be kind enough to donate that item and bring it into school. There will be a crate per tutor to collect items. Please can items start making their way into DMS from the 7th October - the Student council and Mark Topps will take these on the 14th October to the Storehouse church - to weigh, package and distribute to those who would be grateful for the support. Two fabulous pupils received a Headteacher sticker today for their brilliant work! Sonny for his beautifully presented and accurate maths work, and Gregory for an exciting and gripping piece of writing! Well done boys!

Pastor Mark Topps is in DMS this week sharing about Harvest and how we can do our part to help those in and around our community with food donations. By the end of the week we will be asking tutor groups to bring in certain foods to collect and provide for a foodbank at The Storehouse church. Our new Student council members will deliver and weigh our contributions and then distribute some to our local community.

Year Five had another special visitor today - the fabulous Miss White from Prince of Wales First School. Honestly, it was like a celebrity had stepped into the building! The children were beyond delighted to see her and were so excited to tell her about their favourite lessons and what life is like in their new school. Another wonderful experience. Now, I wonder who we'll see next week?

Well, look who came to see some of Year Five children yesterday - only the legend that is Miss Trent from Cerne Abbas First School! To say that the children were happy to see her would be an understatement. It was so lovely to hear the children tell her about how much they are enjoying their wonderful new school.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Year Five Settling In Evening last night. It was so lovely to see so many happy, smiling faces in the packed Year Five corridor. A special thank you to our fabulous Mrs Hammonds, Miss Clements, House Captains, PTFA and Year Five Tutors who made the evening such a success. Apologies for the lack of photos - I suspect that Mrs Ray was too busy chatting!

Year 7 have been learning who should be crowned the King of England in 1066! There have been many discussions around this in their History lessons! For some it seems - the crown weighs too heavy ( and may have slipped down their face!)

A HUGE congratulations to Benjamin - who has achieved his Elements of Power Vessel Intermediate, so he has ranked up to an Intermediate Cadet. He sailed from Torquay to Salcombe to Dartmouth and then to Portland - had a couple of nights there, doing various night sails and then into Weymouth. What a great achievement! Well done Benjamin!

As a school, we are very proud to be participating in Hello Yellow Day which is World Mental Health Day. This year it will be on Friday 9th October. The children and staff are invited to substitute an item of uniform/clothing for something that is yellow in exchange for a £1 donation. All money raised will go to a mental health charity. Even though Year Five will at Stonehenge that day, we can be creative with our yellow item, right?
